mallory_plainMegan Mallory Martin is a writer, editor, and educator living in South Central Pennsylvania with her husband (Dr. B, a veterinarian by trade) and their lovable critters: a cat (Tilly) and dog (Lucy). A connoisseur of tea and a climber of rocks, she enjoys writing about everything from travel adventures and an anthrax scare to Christmas ornaments and a fear of pregnant women.

Megan has nearly a decade of experience as a magazine editor. She is currently the manager of publications at a college preparatory school, where she serves as editor for the school’s alumni magazine. Prior to that, she spent nearly eight years working for the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, where she served as editor of Pathlight (PHA’s official magazine)—for which she led a complete redesign in 2014 that resulted in an Association Media & Publishing (AMP) Bronze EXCEL Award. From 2004-2008—fresh out of college—she provided special-education services for children in grades kindergarten through middle school in the Washington, D.C., area.

A native of Buckhannon, W.Va., Megan earned a bachelor’s degree in English and women’s studies from Mount Holyoke College and a master of arts in teaching from Trinity University in Washington, D.C. As of May 2017, she can add master of fine arts in creative nonfiction from West Virginia Wesleyan College to her résumé.
