Over the course of the next week, I’m going to take my writing – and myself – to a place I have never been before: Finland. When a college friend said she was getting married to a guy from Finland, I thought, “That’s great! Congrats!” But when my sister became a bridesmaid in the wedding and I found out the wedding would actually take place in Finland, I thought, “Sign me up! I’ll be there!”
I love to travel, I’ve never traveled outside the U.S. with my sister before, and I’ve never been to Finland before. So, here we go!
And to make the trip even more interesting, I plan to take my netbook and write about the experience. We’ll enjoy the wedding this weekend, and then my sister and I will set off to do some exploring over the next week. Tonight, I’m actually testing out the netbook and its ability to upload photos. Can it do it?
Why yes, with a little finagling, it looks like I can include photos. Perhaps this traveling and blogging idea will come together just fine after all.
In less than 24 hours, my sister Rachel and I will fly off for adventure. And along the way, I hope to answer these questions:
- How many times can I get lost in a foreign country?
- How many times can I lose my sister in a foreign country?
- How many times can I photograph my sister doing funny things in a foreign country?
- Will Rachel and I be ready to disown one another by the time we fly home on June 25 from this foreign country?
- And can I actually blog about it as I go?
Stay tuned, and we’ll find out. And if my blogging is unsuccessful, I’ll just write about the trip after the fact, and we’ll know the answer to #5 is definitely no.
The bags are packed, the guidebook is at the ready, and the flight takes off in approximately 18 hours – Finland, here we come!
